The legendary Liverpool band are to open new city centre venue Jimmy’s, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley finds the feeling and passes it on.
The Coral are to headline the grand opening of Jimmy’s.
Mysterious #PassItOn stickers have been appearing across Liverpool city centre, but the news is out with the Merseyside music icons taking to the stage to christen the new gig venue.
They’ll do so on Thursday August 1 for what’s set to be a stellar set featuring the five-piece’s classic hits.
The venue is based on site of the old Cabin Club at the top of Bold Street in Liverpool city centre, and is the sister venue to Manchester’s Jimmy’s, founded and owned by brothers-turned-business-partners Jimmy and George Craig.
The gig space is underground with a ground floor bar and upstairs eating area.
George, previously lead singer of indie band One Night Only, said: “Eagle-eyed music fans across the city have spent the last few weeks speculating about an upcoming announcement we’ve been teasing, and we’re excited to finally reveal that we’ll be welcoming none other than The Coral to the venue for our opening night.”
“As one of the region’s most-loved bands, we’re sure their support will help our Liverpool launch shape up to be one of the biggest nights in Jimmy’s history.”
The three-floor venue has already confirmed a stand-out line up for the coming weeks.
The listings so far include an all day gig on its opening Saturday on August 3, which is headlined by The Blinders.
Support on the day comes from Saytr Play, Déjà Vega, Ryan Jarvis, SCUTTLERS, Ambiere and Bones Shake.
