Muzz continues to surprise us with good news, as they announce the release of their self-titled debut album on 5th June 2020. Getintothis’ Sian Ellis spills the details.

After we reported the release of Muzz’s new official single Broken Tambourine earlier this month, the band have now revealed details on the release of their self-titled debut album Muzz.

The announcement from the three-man-band comes with the additional release of new, piano-led single Red Western Sky and its accompanying video – directed by the band themselves.

Red Western Sky is the third song to be released by Muzz, and is available to stream and download now. It comes after the success of singles Broken Tambourine and Bad Feeling, which were uploaded anonymously to SoundCloud.

Debut album Muzz is made up of 12 tracks, with all members contributing lyrics and helping to shape things vocally. Matt Barrick, the bands drummer, explains: “Everyone is open to everyone else’s ideas. I think three is a great number of people for a band. We all had a big hand in everything.”

Lock down luck: reuniting with my CD collection

Describing the debut album, band member Josh Kauffman says: “the music has this weird, super removed vibe but is also personal and emotional at the same time”. He also used the word “muzz” to describe the music’s subtle, analog quality and texture.

Written, arranged and performed by all three, the debut album Muzz is dark and gorgeous, expansive and soulful – with the band’s guitarist Paul Banks adding that: “Ultimately, the music speaks for itself”.

Muzz will release the self-titled debut album on 5 June,2020, on Matador Records.
