No Hot Ashes
More new faces than ever before in the guide this week and Getintothis’ Steven Doherty tells us how to get involved.
Well, that was the week of being suckered into spending all day Thursday watching Sky Sports News, then Friday picking a Fantasy Football team.
Yes, the Premier League is back, in fact it’s precisely seven minutes old and, of course, I’m writing these words rather than watching it (you have to have some standards).
It was also the week that saw Getintothis’ nearly self-combust at the hottest gig we’ve ever experienced, The Blinders all-dayer at Jimmy’s.
Blimey, it was a warm one.
You can keep your Weightwatchers and Slimming World, we came out two stone lighter than when we went in. As sweaty rock and roll basements go, it was indeed sweaty.
But it’s nights like that that serve as a reminder as to why we go to gigs and why we love them. Saturday night will become a kind of war story, a badge of honour for those of us lucky enough to witness it.
On to this week’s shenanigans, it may well be quiet in the way of big names, but hopefully there’s always something here that’ll raise your temperatures.
(oh look, they’re one-nil up already, of course it’s an own goal).

Feeder: Phase One, August 12
An in-store performance at Phase One prior to an after-show signing session for indie stalwarts Feeder.
New return-to-form album Tallulah was released last Friday, and the set will be made up of tracks from that plus a rummage through their back catalogue of bangers.
You know exactly what you’re gonna get, catchy riffs in a marvellous setting.
Good old Feeder.

Zu: Kazimier Stockroom, August 15
Italian genre-stretching noiseniks Zu celebrate 10 years since the release of their best-known album Carboniferous by bringing their noise to the Kazimier Stockroom.

Caveparty: Phase One, August 15
A launch event to celebrate the release of their new EP on Anvil Records.
Caveparty bring their dream-pop to Phase One, supported ably by Maddie Stenburg, and the best thing is that it’s free entry.
Seemingly this is going to be the last time we are going to see Caveparty in their current form for a long old while unfortunately, so get yourselves down there in droves.
God On My Right
God On My Right: Sound, August 16
It’s Friday night, it’s in Sound, it must be good.
The electronica duo God On My Right bring their dark guitar-synth racket back to the city, for their first appearance for a while.
The ideal venue for their blood and thunder twisted menace, the low ceilings will have it bouncing.
This will be a busy one as there not around as much as they should be.
No Hot Ashes
No Hot Ashes: Jimmy’s, August 17
Their long-awaited debut album Hardship Starship is released by Modern Sky this week, and Getintothis faves No Hot Ashes are another band hosting a launch celebration, this time at Jimmy’s.
The much touted Stockport guitar heroes, who recorded the album at our very own Parr Street Studios discussed the record with us earlier in the week, and the album was described by us as “triumphant” in our review.

Denio
Denio: EBGB’s, August 17
Denio follow up some high-profile support slots by headlining EBGB’s with some big supports of their own.
Denova and Echo November are the starter courses as well as one of the most noteworthy up-and-comers in the shape of The Lathums.
The Lathums became overnight Twitter stars when Tim Burgess invited them to play Kendal Calling via the social media site after hearing and loving one of their songs. They have also recently been picked up for airplay on 6 Music and will not be long for venues and support slots like this.
