The north-west is set for a storm as Strokes producer Gordon Raphael heads to town as part of his tour, Getintothis’ Zac Jones has the news.

With the legendary tag often accredited to his name, The Strokes and Regina Spektor producer Gordon Raphael has set his sights on the North-West with Manchester and Liverpool shows announced for the 26 and 27 April respectively.

The Gordon Raphael Project is not worlds away from the material of his most well known of projects, New York-based rock ‘n’ rollers The Strokes. With plenty of garage rock-esque squeals and screeches, this is a must see for any rock ‘n’ roll fan. However, Raphael has well and truly delved into the realms of psychedelia with a focus on an almost kaleidoscopic ambiance and mind-warping sonic resonance.

This is more for fans of 13th Floor Elevators, The Black Angels and The Brian Jonestown Massacre than their more proto-punk garage counterparts.

Support in both Manchester and Liverpool comes from Mystified, who will also act as Raphael‘s backing band for the evening and Liverpool’s own Queen Zee and the Sasstones. Having just recorded their latest and to be announced offering with Raphael, London fuzz rock trio Mystified are set to bring their roaring energy and chaotic stage show in full form, with new material likely to debut.

Liverpool Sass-punks Queen Zee and the Sasstones also have new work under their belt, with this, their first show since announcing debut release Hate Male for a may release date on Liverpool’s own Bitchicism Records.

So crack out the MC5 t-shirt and enjoy the biggest rock n roll party Merseyside has to offer this side of Psych Fest.
