Club EVOL bring Anton Newcombe and his acolytes to Liverpool with an exciting July gig announcement, Getintothis’ Joseph Viney gets ready to become indoctrinated.

They say be careful what you wish for…
A contingent of Liverpool’s music-lovers have been crying out for the return of Anton Newcombe and the Brian Jonestown Massacre to the city and, well…here they are.
Club EVOL have scored a massive coup in getting one of rock’s more enigmatic creatures away from his home in Berlin and up here on Saturday July 12.
Newcombe and his band do of course have an affinity for Liverpool, having recorded some of 2008 LP My Bloody Underground here.
Known for shifting line-ups and an adherence to wild experimentation, energy and a timeless spirit that transcends any boundaries, BJM will throw out equal amounts of love and animosity to their audience, keeping them guessing to the last.
Their last LP, 2012’s Aufheben, was a nerve-jangling mix of eastern sounds, perpetual percussion and mysterious lyrics that cemented the myth even more.
It might just be another summer of love after all.
