Getintothis top five #65: most read music, gigs, features and stories of the week

The Getintothis top five stories of the week

At the climax of another busy week of stories, here’s Getintothis’ Max RIchardson with the weekly roundup.

Afternoon all, here’s hoping you’re all doing well.

Well here we are once again, at the climax of what’s shaped up to be one of the most memorable weeks of lockdown as of yet.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Liverpool FC have clinched the Premier League title – whether that’s good or bad news I’ll leave up to you to decide.

This week, much of this writer’s time has been spent soundtracked by the classic American songwriters – Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and the like.

There’s just something inately comforting about the greats in this genre, with some truly beautiful lyrics mingling with top-notch music to create classic tracks.

Songs like Thunder Road and I Walk The Line seem to stand up amazingly well especially considering their age, and really do fall into the canon of great songs.

Bob Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways: A masterful history of the good, the bad and the ugly

In other news this week, this writer was completely taken by surprise by the film Your Name available to watch on Netflix, which is frankly staggering.

It’s difficult to explain the premise of the film without spoiling it, but suffice to say it’s a wholly original premise that just really works on a lot of levels.

The animation of the film is gorgeous, combining urban Tokyo with rural countrysides to give the viewer a distinct setting for each of the two main protagonists.

This is a film in the ilk of the works of Studio Ghibli, although grounded in a real-world setting to a greater extent than the majority of their works.

Anyway, enough of my rambling on – let’s crack on with the Getintothis Top Five:
