Introducing Delly – prime new Liverpool hip hop fresh off the bat.

Years ago Getintothis challenged Liverpool hip hop to stand up.
And while it’s still playing catch up in comparison to various other UK cities, there’s been giant strides over the course of the last 18 months with a variety of new names stepping up to the plate.
The superficiality and commercial gloss of several high profile urban events held in Liverpool seems to have spurred a new breed of talent to mobilise, get organised and start producing music which not only include better tunes but also resonate with deeper lyrical content than the usual stereotypical guff.
Recent ones to watch featured at Tony Broke‘s album launch (review here) while others peppered the support slots at The Pharcyde and Big Daddy Kane.
From the Merki stable comes Delly and his debut cut proper, Street Life Through My Eyes, an ode to family, struggle and his home town backed by snaking orchestration and an infectious piano hook.
It’s a seductively superb offering, hopefully there’s more from where that came from.

Merki features at Liverpool International Music Festival.
