Maguires reopens as Outpost, Manchester fightback against venue closures, Her’s drop new video

Cast set for greatest hits gig, Vryll Society reveal UK tour and The Kazimier launch their winter ball, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley with the news.

The former Liverpool venue Maguires will reopen this weekend as Outpost.

The pizza bar and popular metal haunt closed earlier this year, but the Renshaw Street plot will open its doors with a launch night on Saturday, October 27.

The first live music will be from Codename Colin on Tuesday, October 31.

Following that, ArchelonColossloth and Le Menhir will play on November 10 before “a tribute to Maguires” on November 16 featuring Code BreakAVAS and Spannish Announce Team.

Dog-friendly, and promising cocktails, food, drink, live comedy and film nights, Outpost will provide another much-needed boost to the independent venue scene in Liverpool.

Posting on Facebook, Outpost, said: We’re launching with 10 taps of great beer, fridges full of enticing cans and bottles, and a new menu featuring pizza, seitan hot wings, and more. We’ll also be launching our cocktail menu, featuring a few old classics and some of our own creations.”

Liverpool legends Cast will play a special headline date at Liverpool’s Guild of Students to coincide with their upcoming greatest hits album.

Greatest Hits 1995 – 2017 will be released on November 9, before the band play at Mountford Hall on Saturday, December 22. They’ll be supported by The Bohos who recently headlined Getintothis’ Deep Cuts.

Front man John Power last appeared at the Labour conference coinciding Liverpool Left, where he played a special set at the event organised by local Labour councillors and activists.

Cast

Fresh from their sold out O2 Academy gig last week and following the release of their long awaited second album, Course of The Satellite, earlier this year, Liverpool’s Vryll Society have announced a tour for early in the New Year.

They’ll go to YES’ Pink Room on Tuesday, February 5 before dates in Sheffield, Newcastle and Stoke.

Also in Manchester, there will be a special 2 week event that will include 150 shows at 16 venues across the city in support of grassroots music venues.

Fightback Manchester comes in response to venues closures on a national scale and all funds raised from the event will go to support the work of the Music Venue Trust Therapy?SlavesJalen N’GondaTrampoleneThe Tea Street BandLady Leshurr and Ocean Colour Scene are just some of the bands set to feature. Stealing Sheep

Back in Liverpool, The Kazimier have launched their first annual Winter Ball New Rituals at the Invisible Wind Factory.

The fusion of a club night, live performance and social experiment, the night is designed to: “stimulate the faculty of imagination and discovery in a new kind of ceremonial happening.”

Resident Invisible Wind Factory artists Dogshow and Stealing Sheep will perform conceptual live shows followed by DJs until the small hours.

Juanita Stein

Juanita Stein has announced a full UK tour including a date at Sound on Sunday, November 18.

The Howling Bells front woman turned solo artist, who has just released her brilliant new album, Until The Lights Fade, follows a summer of festivals including Latitude and Green Man, with a busy touring schedule from now into December.

Finally in gigs, Malena Zavala will play the same venue as part of a UK and Europe tour on Friday, April 26.

Argentinian Zavala, who is now based in California, released her debut album Aliso earlier this year,

Her’s

Her’s have revealed a brand new video for their single Under Wraps. The Liverpool duo who released their debut album in August played Arts Club last week and have now released a video for the ages, directed by Jorge Ramos.

They complete their UK and Ireland tour at the beginning of next month before heading to the US in November, where there’ll return for SXSW alongside other north west and UK based bands.
