The Flying Luttenbachers

Promoters Amorphic Music book raft of music innovators, Getintothis’ Peter Goodbody guides you through what’s in store at the Kazimier Garden’s Stockroom.

Since it opened in March 2019 with an audacious statement of intent in the form of Snapped Ankles as its first booking, it was clear the Kazimier Stockroom wasn’t going to be just another gig space.

Carving out a niche for the experimental, weird and wonderful, the Stockroom has quickly made a name for itself as the venue in Liverpool where you’re most likely to be surprised and taken aback, as well as entertained.

Take, for example, The Flying Luttenbachers gig that closed out 2019. The crazed jazz / punk / funk / noise fest provided the perfect antidote to the round of office Christmas parties going on elsewhere. It is difficult now to think of another Liverpool venue that would have hosted that gig, especially on the last Friday before Christmas.

There were other leftfield highlights, too. The learning curve provided by Knifed Out Of Existence, the killer punch provided by Italian madmen, Zu, and the insanity that is a Paddy Steer show.

You never quite know what you’re going to get at a Stockroom gig, but what you do know is their booking policy is solid and we’ve never seen a bad gig there.

It’s a small venue, with a max capacity of about 80 heads. But that’s fine. It means there are few nights where the crowd is rattling around. We were chatting to French techno freaks Poison Point before their gig here at the end of January when they said they were delighted with the space. They’d been booked to play a “stockroom” and they weren’t at all sure what to expect before they got here.

Poison Point, Lonesaw, God On My Right: Kazimier Stockroom, Liverpool

What they got was a room full of punters moshing to their grunge dance fusion. It was a terrific night and one that showed off the Stockroom in the best possible light.

So, it is with a considerable degree of intrigue and a dive into the lesser known, we can release the Stockroom programme for the first part of 2020.

Starting off with some gems from new promoters Amorphic Music, the team that brought Zu, Ruins Alone, Sax Ruins, Charles Hayward and many many other known and unknown acts. They are a new brand to Liverpool, but one to keep an eye on.

The Stockroom is also now home to ParrJazz who are spearheading a resurgent and healthy jazz scene in Liverpool.  Here are the highlights, with full listings below.
