Catfish & The Bottlemen

Liverpool Sound City add headliners Catfish and the Bottlemen plus a raft of electronic acts including Floating Points, John Talabot and Hot Chip Getintothis’ Patrick Clarke chews over the news.

Catfish And The Bottlemen have been revealed as the second headliners of this year’s Liverpool Sound City, joining The Coral at the top of the bill.

Organisers have also added Palma VioletsGeorgia and Viola Beach, as well as a partnership with Liverpool dance promoters Freeze, who bring Leftfield, Floating PointsHenrik Schwarz and a Hot Chip DJ set to the docks.

The new headliners have a history with the festival, having first played in 2011 as an unsigned act – five years later they return at the top of the bill for this year’s weekender, which takes place May 28-29.

Also announced for the line-up today are ShuraNeon WaltzInheavenLevelzMezDilly DallyThe Big MoonKagoule and Holy Esque.

Meanwhile, the Baltic Warehouse will host electronic pioneers Leftfield and a Hot Chip along with ÂmeMotor City Drum EnsembleMano Le Tough, Spanish DJ John TalabotGerde Janson and Greg Wilson.

Many more names are soon to be revealed both by Freeze and the main festival, with Sleaford Mods, The Dandy Warhols, Young Fathers, Circa Waves, and Band Of Skulls announced late last year.

The festival, taking place at the Bramley Moore Dock, was recently named the UK’s Best Metropolitan Music Festival of 2015 thanks to a standout bill headlined by The Flaming Lips, Belle & Sebastian and The Vaccines, with Getintothis on hand to record every moment.

2016 will be Sound City‘s first year as a two-day event, following an announcement made last October. Tickets are on sale now, with a limited amount still on sale for an early price of £70 from their official website.
