The Getintothis top five stories of the week

As yet another week draws to a close, Getintothis’ Max Richardson rounds up the happenings on the site.

Well what a week it’s been.

We’ve been treated to some sensational new releases from acts such as Elbow, Nils Frahm and Floating Points, in addition to some truly corking live performances on offer.

Here at Getintothis, a topic of discussion came about last night which got many of us thinking.

It’s a spin on the traditional desert island discs format – where instead of three or five albums, you can take all of the work by one single artist.

Do you go for a group with loads of albums to keep the variety? Or do you go for an artist with less albums but that are maybe at a higher quality.

We’d love to hear your thoughts – so do let us know in the comments whose records you’d be bringing along with you.

Personally, it’s a tough call but I’d say Nine Inch Nails edge it for me – they’ve got a big back catalogue, and it’s all of a great quality.

Completionism is pointless: every band has only three great albums

Elsewhere this week, this writer has finally had a bit of a chance to digest the new Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds record – and what a record it is.

Ghosteen is undoubtedly up there with some of Cave’s best work, and is a truly exceptional record from start to finish – full to the brim of Cave’s signature atmospheric vocals and poignant lyrics.

And so anyway, without further ado – let’s crack on with the Getintothis top five stories and gigs of the week:
