The Getintothis top five stories of the week

At the climax of yet another week, GetintothisWill Whitby brings you the roundup of the top stories and gigs.

It has been a rough for touring artists as it was announced that Brexit would indeed heavily affect the UK and EU touring circuit.

The UK Government has announced the Temporary Worker – Creative and Sporting visa (Tier 5) which will hit the pockets of touring musicians hard as they need to fork out extra cash for the right to play in the UK. Chris Flack has detailed the grim news here:

But life isn’t about moaning and there was still plenty of good news this week.

Liverpool’s famous arts festival LightNight will return this year with over 100 events in the city.

Liverpool Sound City has today revealed the first 12 participants of its new artist development initiative Launch including Podge, The Mysterines and more.

We spoke to Threshold Festival as well as they gear up for one last hurrah in a very profound interview with its organisers- “Sometimes I wish that life was never-ending, but all good things, they say, never last – and love, it isn’t love until it’s past…”

We had an awesome night at the first Getintothis Social at District this week with live music, tricky quizzes and good times.

But wait, there’s more! Deep Cuts is back on March 4 as featuring Rossa Murray and the Blowin’ Winds top the bill at Phase One with Kalima, Slye, Mason Owens and Rachael Jean Harris in support. Tickets are just a fiver from this link https://bit.ly/2v2Hws8

If it is exciting music you’re after then sink your teeth into the ritualistic ordeals of cascading noise and destabilising filth-sound of Sightless Pit as their track Drunk On Marrow is in Unknown Pleasures this week.

Our new feature The Weekly 7 brings to the light the seven best albums released that week- the new Grimes album is a must!
